John Park

I am a Legal Practitioner, the director and a senior lawyer of Park Legal Solutions.

I established Park Legal Solutions in 2005 to meet my clients’ needs and to offer them a personal professional legal service of high standard and integrity. I work hard to get to know my clients and their business and to provide honest, straightforward and sound advice in a timely manner that engenders trust in my clients.

One of my strengths is my desire and ability to assist my clients “find the solution”. This is recognised in my choice of name for my practice which I chose to deliberately recognise that strength and goal.

I have strong experience and skill in relation to advising in all aspects of franchising, dispute resolution, litigation, contracting and strata title law. I have assisted clients resolve a variety of commercial negotiations and disputes including a multi-party international litigation involving a claim of over US$260 million. I have also been involved in successful negotiations on behalf of clients in many contract and franchising matters.

I am a member of the Law Society of Western Australia and have a Practitioner’s Certificate in Mediation and Conciliation from the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia and promote negotiated commercial settlements and mediation as methods of resolving disputes. However, if my clients require or are forced into Court or Tribunal proceedings I am adept at providing sound, effective legal and strategic advice towards the resolution of such disputes in accordance with my client’s needs.

I previously practised at Freehills (Perth and Sydney), Slater and Gordon Lawyers (Sydney) and Valenti Lawyers (Perth). I am permitted to practice in all jurisdictions of Australia and am admitted to the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Western Australia and New South Wales.

Before practising law I had diverse and successful careers in the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Army during which I developed good strategic and communication skills. I practice some criminal law in particular circumstances and have successfully assisted clients defend quasi criminal (alleged breaches of laws aimed at controlling commercial operations) and criminal proceedings brought against them including in relation to petroleum products and planning matters. I remain interested in assisting particular clients in that regard.

(b) Advising and assisting a national client negotiate and settle a down stream fuel sale agreement valued at hundreds of millions of dollars.

(c) Assisting an international client resolve by negotiation a claim valued at hundreds of millions of dollars involving the operation of a mine.

(d) Advising and assisting a client with the contracts and dispute resolution involved in its purchase of land and for its development and sale of mixed use high rise developments.

(e) Advising and assisting a client resolve a contractual dispute, allowing her to complete and publish a well received non-fiction book.

(f) Advising and assisting clients with the preparation of strata title requirements and the resolution of strata titles disputes.
